The National Parks on both sides, Aigues Tortes, the
Pyrenees, and Ordesa, are surprising destinations that contain a
multitude of contrasts. Distributed throughout the Pyrenees are
excellent examples of the mountain climate, here influenced by both
the Atlantic and the Mediterranean. The result is a multitude of
lakes, the tallest waterfall in Europe and the highest limestone
peak in Europe, making the area unique in the world and converting
it into World Heritage.
This area, the natural border with France through the Central
Pyrenees, offers exceptional scenery which will surprise the
traveller due to its dramatic and powerful contrasts. Aragon has
many protected natural areas and is the final refuge for some
animals in danger of extinction, such as the Bearded Vulture-Eagle
and the Pyrenean Ibex. One of the most characteristic physical
features of the Aragon area is its water, which creates a multitude
of glacial lakes and tarns. This water forms amazing waterfalls and
carves impressive ravines, gorges and canyons out of the high
mountain rocks.
The South West is the most diversified wine area in France. This
vast mosaic of wine varieties spreads from Béarn to the foothills
of Aubrac, and is characterised by the originality and authenticity
of its wines and for the famous cuisine which inspires so many of
its winegrowers.
In this area, vineyards can often be found alongside crops of fruits
and cereals, but also coexist with the rearing of livestock such as
cows, geese and ducks.
For a long time now, the wines and cuisine from this area have been
considered an art form.
In an era when the standardisation and homogenisation of tastes
threatens the diversity of flavours, the winegrowers from the
South-West have proudly retained their native varieties, answering
to the sweet name of Mauzac, Len de - l'el, ondenc, muscadelle,
tannat, braucol and fer - servadou.
These varieties are cultivated with care and they give all their
authenticity and characteristics to the wines from the South West.
Brave and ambitious, the winegrowers of the South-West cultivate
this difference, while at the same time producing subtle, fine and
structured wines that go perfectly with game, red meats with
mushrooms, duck rillettes or a tasty piece of Roquefort. Whether
they are red, rosé, white, smooth or pearled, the wines from the
South-West are made for the table!
Our main advantage is quality. On the terraces of the Garonne, in
the sunny ravines of the Pyrenees and on the mountainsides, the
winegrowers of the South-West know the potential of their land, and
have always limited the yield and harvested at the point of perfect
maturity.
