DO Somontano, created in 1984, is a young and dynamic Denomination of Origin. Located in the foothills of the Pyrenees in Huesca, it has earned an excellent reputation for wine.

From its foundation to current times, Somontano has seen its work rewarded with the launch of new brands, the creation of new vineyards and recognition for the quality of its wines by both consumers and the most prestigious Spanish wine guides.

IVSO is the result of the work of the winegrowers in the area and the negotiations between the wines of the South-West, which have led to the establishment of general rules for defending and respecting the interests of each party.

Created at the end of 1997, IVSO is a private organisation, recognised by the state, whose bicephalous body consists of a Board of Directors containing winegrowers and dealers in equal proportions.
